What I Am
What I am Not
My life changed in 2005 when I realized I had celiac and the gluten I had been eating my entire life had been making me very ill, from the inside out. As fascinated as I was with the fact that one food ingredient could wreak such havoc on a person's health I was also frustrated at the number of years and the number of doctors I went through before I understood my plight. I was now hungry for knowledge and wanted to know everything about how what I ate affected my body. The more I learned, the more I wanted everyone else to know...
So I made a decision and I embarked on a new adventure in life! After almost 20 years in the field of education policy I took a sabbatical and enrolled in the Institute for Integrative Nutrition where I learned the Mind/Food/Body connection and learned how to help others on their wellness journey. After graduating I opened the Center for Holistic Wellness in Ashland, VA. There I worked with clients, individually and in groups, providing education, cooking support and wellness coaching.
In 2009, I re-located to the Harrisburg, PA area where I continued to spread the healthy word through public speaking engagements and personal support of others. However in 2013, the serious and debilitating effects of undiagnosed chronic Lyme disease became too much and after a long search I finally found a Lyme literate doctor who diagnosed me with six different diseases, including Lyme, all contracted from tick bites.
Little did I know at the time what a painful, dark and frustrating journey of sickness and dis-ease I had embarked on and that it would change me profoundly. I had no idea that doctors would not know how to fully cure me and I would have to find my own path to healing. And, miraculously, find my own path, I did!
It was three years from diagnosis to loving myself healthy and being whole again. and part of that healing involved a move to a new home. I now reside on the west coast of Florida near St. Petersburg where I continue to live my passion; helping the world get healthy, one bite at a time…
